How To Benefit From The Project?

The TEVMOT Project aims to achieve a “market transformation” in Turkey by introducing new and energy efficient motors to SMEs, by increasing the demand for energy efficient motors, by replacing the old and inefficient electric motors that are currently in use, and by encouraging significant additional investments into energy efficiency.

A total of 362 people, including company owners/partners, senior executives and technical teams working in production, from approximately 270 companies attended the seminars.

Following the seminars, 140 companies submitted “Declarations of Intent” to the Project Management through the relevant OIZ Energy Management Units, indicating their desire to replace their motors.

In the first phase of the project, one-on-one interviews were held between June and September 2020 with 120 companies selected from the applicants, and among them 100 companies where initial walk-through audits and detailed energy audits to be carried out at the expense of TEVMOT Project Budget were determined.

Within the scope of the TEVMOT Project, companies applying for “Energy-Efficient Electric Motors Replacement Support” from the SME Development Programme of KOSGEB will purchase new motors to replace their existing motors, which are examined in detailed energy audit reports (as a prerequisite for support application), and which are recommended for replacement.

In the dissemination phase of the project, the aim is to reach more companies by expanding the pilot studies, motor energy audits and motor replacement activities conducted in the seven abovementioned OIZs throughout the country. Accordingly, SMEs with plans to replace their old inefficient motors with alternating current (AC) asynchronous, 3-phase, squirrel-cage energy-efficient motors with a nominal power of 7.5–375 kW, may fill out the “Request Form” on our website and/or send their requests to the Project Management via e-mail.

The pre-application process for companies applying for “Energy-Efficient Electric Motors Replacement Support” from the SME Development Programme of KOSGEB within the scope of TEVMOT Project is as follows;

  • Completion of Walk-through audits and Detailed Audits, paid for out of the Project budget, which is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and/or by the SMEs themselves, and approval of the relevant reports by the Project Management and DGSRP
  • Obtaining price quotations for the replacement of the motors, as recommended in the energy audit reports of the company
  • Purchasing new energy-efficient electric motors that are found to be appropriate and approved, and completion of the payment procedures, and the receipt of invoices and payment receipts
  • Obtaining a “Domestic Goods Certificate” for domestic motors
  • Delivery of the old motors to the project free of charge for recycling after the delivery and installation of the new energy-efficient electric motors to the company
  • Submission of the “Application File” to the relevant OIZ Energy Management Unit

The process for companies, that applied to the “Energy-Efficient Electric Motors Replacement Support” by the SME Development Programme of KOSGEB within the scope of TEVMOT Project, to receive support payments is as follows;

  • • Submission of the TEVMOT Monthly Activity Report and its annexes, approved by the General Directorate for Strategic Research and Efficiency of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, to KOSGEB in the first week of each month
  • • Control and approval by KOSGEB of the entered data
  • • Transfer of the amount of support stated in the report approved by KOSGEB from the TEVMOT Project Budget to KOSGEB, and notifying with an Official Letter that the transfer has been made
  • • Following the transfer of the support amount, allowing the companies detailed in the report to access the system to make payment requests
  • • Submission of “Business Payment Requests” with attached documents by companies seeking payment
  • • Transfers of the support payment to company accounts after the evaluation and approval of the payment request by the KOSGEB Implementation Unit.
