What is the Energy Management Unit (EMU) that operates in Organised Industrial Zones?<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In Article 9\/3, with the heading \u201cAssigning an Energy Manager and establishing an energy management unit\u201d, in the \u201cRegulation on Increasing Efficiency in the Use of Energy Resources and Energy\u201d, published in the Official Gazette on 27 October 2011, it is stated that \u201c(3) An energy management unit shall be established in organised industrial zones with at least 50 active enterprises within their regions to carry out activities aimed at informing, raising awareness and carrying out model implementations to help fulfil the energy management practices specified in Article 8 in industrial enterprises with annual total energy consumption of less than 1,000 Ton Equivalent Petrol (TEP) and to carry out the audits specified in Article 8 in the fields of energy production, transmission and distribution by, or on behalf of, the organized industrial zone.\u201d The energy manager is the person responsible for activities related to energy management in industrial enterprises and buildings, and who should possess an energy manager or training-audit-project certificate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In the Regulation on Increasing Efficiency in the Use of Energy Resources and Energy, published in the Official Gazette dated 27 October, 2011, the duties of the energy manager are listed as follows:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • To determine measures and procedures aimed at improving consumption habits and preventing waste, to introduce such measures and procedures, and to organise training programmes when necessary,<\/li>\n
  • To monitor the efficiency of energy consuming equipment, to coordinate their maintenance and to ensure calibrations are made on time,<\/li>\n
  • To prepare plans, budgets and cost\/benefit analyses related to energy needs and efficiency enhancing applications and to submit these to the senior management,<\/li>\n
  • To monitor and assess energy consumption and costs, and to prepare periodic reports,<\/li>\n
  • To take action for the procurement and installation of the meters and measurement devices needed to monitor energy consumption,<\/li>\n
  • To monitor specific energy consumption in industrial enterprises, to identify the relationship between the production of goods and energy consumption, energy costs and the energy intensity of the enterprise, and to make suggestions for improvement,<\/li>\n
  • To analyse the possibilities of both changing energy composition and the use of alternative fuels, and to prepare and coordinate the implementation of measures aimed at the protection of the environment, the reduction of emissions and the prevention of exceedances of limit values,<\/li>\n
  • To prepare alternative plans aimed at reducing the use of petroleum and natural gas, to be implemented in the event of interruptions to energy supply, and when requested by the Directorate General,<\/li>\n
  • To prepare the information required to be submitted to the Directorate General by the end of March every year, as required by Law, and to submit it to the management for presentation to the Directorate General,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    What is the TEVMOT One-Stop Shop ?<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Current legislation calls for the transformation of the Energy Management Units operating in OIZ Directorates into One-Stop Shops (OSSs), in cooperation with the Project Management Unit, in the following areas within the framework of the TEVMOT Project:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Creating a database of motor energy consumption and the motor inventories of the companies in the region, expanding the database over the course of time, and determining areas with potential for greater energy efficiency.<\/li>\n
    • Engaging in meetings with and\/or visiting companies that are likely to replace their current inefficient motors with energy-efficient motors,<\/li>\n
    • Selecting companies in which motor energy efficiency audits are to be conducted,<\/li>\n
    • Taking part in the execution of audits,<\/li>\n
    • Determining companies that are willing to invest in the light of the feasibility reports compiled based on the results of the audits,<\/li>\n
    • Following-up and coordinating the procurement and financing of efficient motors (\n
    • Gaining experience and developing a corporate memory to be utilised in the organisation of similar motors replacement campaigns in the region following the pilot implementation,<\/li>\n
    • Supporting access to affordable financing mechanisms for SMEs in their efficient motor investments,<\/li>\n
    • Provision of the training and infrastructure required by the EMU team,<\/li>\n
