Hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, the Cooperation Meeting between TEVMOT and the United for Efficiency Initiative (U4E) of the UN Environmental Programme was held on 28\u201329 May, 2018. The Union Initiative for Efficiency (U4E) is a public\/private sector partnership that supports the transformation of the market to energy-efficient products in developing economies. The Initiative is part of the \u201cSustainable Energy for All\u201d programme led by the United Nations.<\/p>\n\n

Among the attendees of the meeting, which was chaired by An\u0131l Y\u0131lmaz, Director General of Productivity at the Ministry of Industry and Technology, were Paul Kellett, UN Environment Programme Director; Patrick Blake, UN Environment Programme Policy Expert; Steve Kukoda, Director of the International Copper Association (ICA); and Ajid Advani, ICA Consultant.<\/p>\n\n

At the meeting, the U4E delegation made introductory presentations on the various energy-efficiency related activities being carried at global, regional and country levels. Representatives from the institutions and organisations participating as part of the TEVMOT Project, namely the Directorate General of Productivity, Directorate General of Industrial Product Safety and Inspection, UNDP Turkey Office Environment and Climate Change Portfolio, Directorate General of Renewable Energy of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Development Organisation (KOSGEB), Turkish Standards Institute (TSE), Electric Motors Industrialists Association (EMOSAD), Energy Efficiency and Management Association (EYODER) and Turkish Sustainable Energy Finance Facility (TurSEFF), also made various presentations on topics related to the use of energy efficient motors in SMEs, including financial mechanisms, market transformation, monitoring verification and legislation implementation, and increasing test laboratory capacity, held in four separate sessions over two days.<\/p>\n\n
