TEVMOT Methodology Workshop Held

A workshop was held in Ankara on 8 November, 2019, with the participation of sectoral representatives, with the aim being to identify, before the start of the TEVMOT pilot applications, the methodology to be used when determining the electric motors to be replaced. Taking part in the workshop were 33 participants, including executives of motor manufacturing companies and EVDs (Energy Efficiency Consulting Companies) , and experts from public institutions and sectoral organisations.

The workshop started with an opening speech by Dr. Mustafa Kemal Akgül, Head of the Department of Productivity Applications at the Directorate General of Industry and Productivity of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, and continued with a presentation by Mustafa Salman, TEVMOT Project Manager, on the project. Erik Gudbjerg, an International Technical Consultant in the TEVMOT Project, gave information about the motor audit and replacement process, and talked about other examples in the world of such motor replacement programmes. After the presentations, the participants divided into three groups for round-table discussions.

The first group discussed the steps to be taken to attract SMEs to the project and the necessary qualifications of the auditors who will carry out the audits in the field. The second group discussed the initial walk through audit methodology, and focused on creating a flowchart showing the main steps in the walk through audit process, while also establishing the selection criteria to be used when determining the most suitable SMEs for more detailed audits. The last group worked to establish the activity steps to be followed in the detailed audit in a questionnaire format, and the content to be used during the audit. After the round table discussions, each group presented the results of their efforts. The presented findings were then discussed with the rest of the workshop participants, and consensus was sought on the methodology to be used in the field. The workshop was ended with a general evaluation of the event. The workshop achieved significant progress in the methodology to be implemented in the pilot study, with the consensus being formed based on the opinions of the representatives of both the private and public sectors.
